i think they're a variety of chrysanthemums -- the reason you don't see them growing anywhere is that this variety comes from a colder climate -- most probably Genting or Cameron Highlands.
Sorry I was wrong-- I looked closely at the flowers in the picture and I'm pretty sure now they're dahlias. Again, also mostly grown commercially in Cameron Highlands or Genting. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dahlia

of course there's a differences-- its like calling a black man white! LOL!
chrysanthemums have a nice smell and can be turned into a nice tea when dried, and dahlias have no smell and no tea ability. :)
Definately Dahlias. Can be grown down here but do so much better up in cameron. The mature plant will develop roots like sweet potatoes (not edible).
